The process of building a watch is very intricate and delicate so the watchmaker uses a magnifying glass to see. He uses a tiny pair of red pliers and a small stick with a soft end to gently push the parts into place without damaging them. I can feel the cool metal on my fingers, that is made in to the watch. I can feel time slowing down as every second ticks by in the watchmakers shop. I can see the tiny parts getting pushed together by the watchmaker. The metallic sound of clicking fills my ears as the precious metal parts are softly placed inside of the watch. I can smell the strong scent of pure concentration. You need a lot of focus to be a watchmaker. The air crackles with the intensity of creating a masterpiece, where all the tiny pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The tiny interlocking cogs spin together like a beautiful ballet recital as the final pieces of the watch are thoughtfully finished. I can hear the quiet ticking of thousands of small hands slowly moving around the face of each watch. Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock.

This is a diagram to explain the box method and estimate of the sum

Firstly you do an estimate

0.84 x 0.34 round it off to the nearest ten like so
0.80 x 0.30
then you go 8 x 3 = 24 then add the 0's and decimal point
2.400 this is your estimate

Now to show you the correct answer by using the box method

Draw the box like the diagram shown
take out the decimal point
then put the numbers around top and left sides
in place value

multiply them as shown by the diagram

then add all the numbers inside the boxes together
adding the decimal point back in for the answer

Heni Karamu - Battle of Gate Pa

· The whites have taken our land, now they want to take away our history
· The Battle of Gate Pa - 1864
· Woman weren't allowed to take part in battle but Heni Karamu was the only one
· Whilst the early morning prayer was taking place the first bombs started to hit and lasted all day
· She was the first woman warrior to take up arms against the enemy
· It started raining so the bombs didn't explode they just sunk into the mud
· Thinking they were all dead the whites stormed the Pa
· Heni and warriors hid and surprise attacked the soldiers
· Heni remembered a pledge that if the enemy asked for mercy they gave it and Heni did just that
· She took water to the wounded soldiers and Colonel Booth said "God bless you."
· This is how she became the "Angel of Gate Pa"
· An artist painted the picture depicting her as a man
· She later married Denis Foley and became known as Jane Foley
